daughter, Jennifer Jean who is married. We have one granddaughter age 6 and another grand child on the way. Upon graduation from Texas Technological College in 1966 I entered the Air Force and served in the Transportation Career field. I retired effective January, 1988 and moved the family to Gilbert, Arizona. Started work with Scottsdale Insurance Company in November, 1987 and am presently the Supervisor of Purchasing. Hopefully I will be able to attend the 50th anniversary. I will remain here in Gilbert for the next three years, then retire for good and move to Gallup, NM. and I will celebrate our 48th wedding anniversay in September. I
taught elementary school in Odessa, either full time or substituting for
five years after graduating from Texas Tech in 1963. I
"retired" for the first time in 1968 to rear our first daughter
Cynthia who was two and then our second child Seree who was born in 1970.
Scott was in the insurance business for almost 20 years before suffering a
massive stroke that left him permanently disabled in 1985. I
returned to teaching that fall and retired again in 2003, this time for
good (I hope!). We are very involved with both our daughters who
live here. Both of our girls, as well as Seree's husband Mark, teach
in ECISD. Seree and Mark have handsome, red-headed twin boys, Blake
and Heath, who will enter sixth grade this fall. We are very
involved in their lives and consider that our greatest blessing. I
pick the boys up from school when necessary and supervise homework and
piano practice before getting them ready for basketball or baseball
practice, depending upon the season. Grandmothering is, hands down,
the most fun I've ever had! Scott and I have both been active in
First Baptist Church since 1963, and I currently serve as secretary to the
Finance Committee and do some substitute teaching in Sunday school.
I've really enjoyed working on the reunion committee for the past 30
years, and particularly like the job of reservations chairman because I
get to talk to so many people and receive lots of phone calls and notes
from old friends! I'm really looking forward to the "Big Doin's"

Grandchildren are what it is all about.Retirement came March 31, 2006 and I have moved home. 35 years of selling rock was fun and 22 years as a Administrative Sales Manager was a challenge and fulfilling. I had a wonderful career. As I told my boss when I decided to retire,"I Love you Stan, but not as much as my grandchildren." Reconnecting with lifelong friends and schoolmates has been a blessing. Had several offers to return to work, but think not. Have been doing a lot of genealogy and lots of traveling to see friends and of course Grandchildren, all of this has proved to be amazing. My sisters and brother are here in Odessa and Midland and we have really enjoyed this experience for the first time in 45 years. God has truly blessed this family. Updated 06/18/09 |

 For more than 30 years, I moved steadily up the corporate escalator, from managing editor of the Kermit Daily Sun to vice president of one of the world’s most prestigious public relations giants, then into a VP slot with an international advertising agency. Along the way there was a 3-year stint as international spokesperson for the Boy Scouts of America. Along the way, I also got older. At 55, I was suddenly merged and purged in a feeding frenzy of corporate conglomerations. I finally found a comfy little niche, writing user guides for GTE. It was fun… it was challenging… it paid well. The perfect spot to finish out my working life. And wouldn’t you know it. Along comes another merger. High and dry again. And I suddenly find myself over-qualified for the workplace. As I sat there on the beach (well, in my mind anyway), listening to the waves and deciding I wanted to be a tugboat captain when I grew up, my reverie was interrupted by the phone. A friend wanted to know if I would be interested in teaching creative and poetry writing to at-risk students in the DISD. Sitting on the beach (especially in your mind) does get boring, so I joined the Writers in the School program, which is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. And I was hooked. Sharing my talent and years of writing experience opened a whole new career vista. Before long, I was substitute teaching in the Lewisville schools. And that’s where I am today. For rollicking tales of my personal life… well, you’ll just have to ask me at the
50th Reunion. Updated

 Don and I will celebrate our 49th anniversary in August. Can we possibly be that old already? Guess so! We have a daughter, Melissa Winter, who lives in Guymon, Okla. with her husband, Don Ray and three of our "grands". McKinlee, who is soon to be 19 yrs. old, Reed, who is 15 yrs. old and Drew, who is 12 yrs. old. McKinlee is attending Okla.Panhandle State in her 1st year of college and the boys play sports and we enjoy going to see their games when we can. Our son, Daron Babcock, and his 2 boys,(our other 2 "grands") live in Frisco, Texas. Daron lost his wife, Marcy, to cancer almost 9
yrs. ago and we have been blessed to help him a good bit with their two boys. Beau is 17 yrs. old, a senior, and has signed up to join the Marines when he graduates. He thinks that college would be a drag and wants for more excitement is his life. Remember the days when we were that age and through we had all the answers? Cole is 16 yrs. old, is a soph. and loves basketball and tolerates other sports. Our family is our greatest accomplishment and a blessing from God.
Don loves to play golf - I love decorating our home, bargain shopping, going to movies and eating popcorn and milk duds, hanging out with the "fam", Bible study, church activities and life in general. Professional information - hmmm - could my working 1 day a month at Steinmart qualify? I get a discount!!! I've worked in the Boutique for almost 7 years but my ol' lady feet may soon put an end to this fun venture. Don retired from banking 10 years ago when the bank he worked for sold 3 times in 2 years. He has enjoyed his retirement and I am so thankful that we've had this time to do some
traveling and enjoy our "golden years" while still healthy.

 After graduation, three years in the army and five years of college, I ended up back in Odessa working for Texas Electric Service Co. I met my wife, Janice Yvette Bailey there, got married.Our son, Joseph Bailey Stringer was born in 1972 and in 1980 we moved to the metroplex. With 26 years at the electric company I retired in 1997. Janice retires this April 30, 2002 with 37 years at the electric company. Our son is a policeman with the City of Fort Worth. As soon as we sell our home here in Mansfield, we are moving to the country in Erath County and have fun growing old together. I'm looking forward to the next reunion. Janice and I have moved to Bluff Dale, Texas (half way between Granbury
and Stephenville). Janice and I moved and built a new home. We are about 3 miles south of Bluff Dale in the country on 5 acres. Just love it! Updated

JB Stringer Jr., 66, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in
Fort Worth. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16,
at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Visitation: One hour prior to
service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials
may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, North Texas
Chapter, 4086 Sandshell, Fort Worth, Texas 76137. Mr. Stringer
was born June 11, 1941, in Odessa, Texas, to JB Stringer Sr. and
Mary Ellen Farrar Stringer. He married Janice Yvette Bailey,
Feb. 14, 1971, in Odessa. JB was a graduate of Odessa High
School and Texas Tech University. He served in the US Army and
retired after 27 years of service as a senior claims
representative from TXU. He was a member of the Bluff Dale
United Methodist Church and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Survivors: Wife, Janice Stringer of Bluff Dale; son, Joseph
Bailey Stringer of Fort Worth; sisters, Sue Rylee and husband,
John, of Odessa, Sara Hignight and husband, John, of Lubbock;
sisters-in-law, Quintilla Hufford and husband, Larry, of Liberty
Hill, JoLene Johnston and husband, J Morris, of Mansfield; and
numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many
friends.
