Charles
A. Carrigan
|
LONGVIEW Charles Allen Carrigan went to Heaven Saturday, March 3, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Carrigan was born January 4, 1941, in Phoenix, AZ to Allen L. Carrigan and Frances Marie Laverty. He was the best "Papa," husband, dad, Cuz, Bubba and friend to many people in his life. He loved anything outdoors, fishing, animals, watching his grandkids play and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Carrigan was retired from Dynegy, where he was employed for 23 years. Anyone that knew him, knew he was always happy and joking around getting everyone that was with him to laugh. We can't wait to meet him again in Heaven one day at that fishing hole we all know he has already baited out! He is survived by his wife, Loraine Carrigan of White Oak; son, Randy Carrigan and wife Maureen of White Oak; daughter, Tina Wilson and husband Barry of Throckmorton, TX; daughter, Tanya Holman and husband Randall of Gladewater; daughter, Shelli Maines and husband Matt of Allen; brother, Mike Carrigan and wife Sharyn of Odessa; brother, Wayne Carrigan and wife Evie of Odessa; sister, Patrice Alldredge of Odessa; grandchildren, Lori Wilson, Lisa Wilson, Wesley Wilson, Colton Holman, Miller Maines and soon to be baby Lawsyn; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a special best friend and "Cuz," Jimmy Carrigan and wife Dorothy of Corsicana. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Alldredge. Update 03/03/12)

Cliff, I received word from Alecia Hemphill Self (Class of 61) that Vanita Chenault of your class passed away last week, I believe on Tuesday. Her services were to be on Saturday, Sept. 6. Wasn't sure whether you all had received that information or not, so I just wanted to pass it on. Judy White. Updated 03/01/09.

I went into the Navy immediately after graduation and spent four years aboard various ships off both coasts. Spent time in the Pacific exploring Hawaii, Japan, China, Philippines and some other places not very exciting. From various bases on the East coast, I was able to cruise the Atlantic visiting a whole bunch of Mediterrean cities and Bermuda, and, then the Caribbean Islands of Puerto Rico, Haita/ Dominician Republic and virtually all of The Virgin Islands. After I got out of the Navy in 1963, I met my wife, Barbara, while attending a training course at the IBM Factory in Lexington, KY and married in 1964. I proposed on our first date and she accepted. A week later I finish my training and had to come back to Texas and work while she stayed with her parents. Six months later I went back to KY and we got married. We decided to go to college in '65 while I worked part-time for IBM in Odessa/Midland and then in Lubbock. I graduated from Texas Tech in 1968. We are still married and have two married children living in the D/FW Metroplex with four grandchildren ranging in age from 1 year to 6 years--two girls and two boys. I still try to play some golf now and then and try to ski whenever pocket book, desire and ski conditions all match up. I'm really looking forward to the reunion next year. I finally retired this year--2003--after spending a lifetime (almost) selling high speed data communications equipment into the telecom industry and to large national accounts. Prior to that I spent seven years in Austin working on the personal staffs of Governors' Smith and Briscoe at the Criminal Justice Division. I still drive a school bus part-time to pay for green fees and goodies for the grandkids. I would be happy to help set up a DFW Metroplex chapter of '59 OHS-X's. Anyone interested? Don E. Cowley 240 Dolores St. #225 San Francisco, CA 94103 (h) (415) 558-9184 |
Single. I am the eldest of the three children of Eskew Benjamin Cowley and Leona Inman Cowley both of whom traced their English ancestry in America back to the early 17th century and were extremely proud of their Anglo-Saxon
protestant culture. Being born in Abilene, Texas on March 26, 1941, I am an Aries who considers astrology my best tool of self-discovery. B.A. Mathematics, UT, Austin, 1965. M.A. Information Science, American University, Washington D.C. 1967. M.A. Transpersonal Psychology, University of Santa Monica, Ca, 1994. Retired from the Port of San Francisco, 2007. Port of San Francisco, systems analyst, 2000 - 2007. Texas Railroad Commission, systems analyst, 1998 - 2000. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept, systems analyst, 1992 - 1998. California State University, Long Beach, systems analyst 1986 - 1988. Santa Fe International Oil Company, Los Angeles, systems analyst, 1985. Arabian American Oil Company, Saudi Arabia, systems analyst, 1982-4. MasterCard, San Francisco, systems analyst, 1977 - 1979. City and County of San Francisco, systems analyst, 1973 - 1976. Public Health Service, Washington D.C., Systems analyst, 1967 - 1969. Chief Staff of Army, Pentagon, systems analyst, 1966 - 1967. Tinker Air Force Base, Okla City, computer programmer, 1965 - 1966. Although my earliest and life-long interest has been architecture, especially palace design, my father discouraged that as a career for seemingly obvious reasons. Most of my professional career was spent as an information systems analyst at government agencies, but in between those jobs I freelanced at various times as a dessert chef, sculptor, rock arranger for Zen gardens, furniture maker, assistant decorator, and folding screen designer. I have traveled abroad extensively, staying for extended periods in Germany, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. While working in Saudi Arabia I observed the many futuristic royal palaces and surmised that a career as palace architect would have been possible after all. Updated 05/15/08. |
