Jeff Parker Deceased (02/09/09) |
I believe that this is our Jeff Parker. The obit says he was in the first grad class of Permian. However, the picture looks like him to me. Also, in the 58 yearbook, he is listed as Jeffery and in 57, listed as Lynn. I am attaching a picture that was with the obit. Maybe he did not get to graduate for some reason. Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Wednesday, February 11, 2009 Jeffery Lyn Parker, 67, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at his home in Haskell. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, in the Double Mountain Cemetery, Peacock, Texas, with Bro. Tony Grand officiating. Arrangements made with Holden McCauley Funeral Home. Jeff was born Sept.28, 1941, in Peacock, Texas, to R.J. Parker and Ida Myers Parker. He married Shirley Dunlap on July 2, 1966, in Spur. In 1961, he was in the first graduating class of Permian High School in Odessa. He later received his Associates Degree in firefighting. In 1998, Jeff retired after 31 years as a firefighter (Lt.) for the City of Abilene. Jeff is survived by his wife, Shirley Parker, of Haskell; a daughter, Shalin White and husband, Dewaine, of Midland; his parents, R.J. Parker and Ida Myers Parker, of Jayton; a granddaughter, Trinity Elysse White, of Midland; two sisters, Betty Wright, of Abilene, and Roanna Stinnett and husband, Charles, of Sweetwater; and many nieces and nephews.Update 06/17/09. |

First of all, I want to say how relieved I was to discover my name was not on the deceased list. I joined the Navy out of high school, married 3 years later, have one daughter, she is due 11/04. We had horses for 30 years, still have dogs, a boat, His and her Harleys, We both recently got our pilots license and a Cessna 182. We are Christians. We've gone to the same church and in the same house for 36 years. I get tired just looking at all the stuff we're involved in. My Wife, Cherene, graduated from Loma Linda University and I graduated from Mesa Community College. Cherene is a Dental Hygienist and I am recently retired. I have never been to any of the reunions, because I was pretty much a loaner and didn't pal around with anyone. I like people, so I would probably have a good time if I attended. Thanks to all who have taken the trouble to keep up with people and organize things. Updated 10/20/04.

I am married to the same guy I married my senior year. We have three grown children, all married, professional people. My first son, Kerry, is an accountant in business with a colleague who handles professional athletes. Four children. UNT Denton. My daughter Kay is a dental hygienist, graduate of TWU, Denton. My youngest son Chris owns his own business, is a custom builder, graduate of UNT, has three children.. I live in the country by the lake and I love it. Can't wait to hear from you and some of our other classmates. I wish I had come to the Reunion. It would have been great to see some of my old classmates. I have just retired this year and am still "in limbo" so to speak. I am taking time to do this today because I had surgery on my dominant arm last Tuesday and can do little else. My husband is retired and has been for some time, so it's nice to be able to do things when you want to. it seems so strange not to have the limits of a work routine. I am still not used to that. Now divorced twice. My second wife is now in the later stages of Alzheimers. Two children, Stewart married to Kelly. They have two children. Nicholas who is 12 and Miranda who is 14. My daughter (Stephanie Fox) has one daughter, Holly, who just turned 12. Stephanie's husband is the manager of Aramark Concessions for the Cincinnati Bengals. I've been on LTD since 1990. Had two cervical fusions. I spent 9 years in the Army as a Medic. Moved my family back to Munich, Germany where I worked as a Computer Operator/Supervisor for three years. Worked for the US Navy as a Computer Programmer for 4 years. This was in New Orleans. Then worked as a Computer Programmer/Analyst for The University of Texas, Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Then worked as a Data Dictionary analyst for Pennzoil also in Houston. I got my BA in Philosophy/Sociology from Sam Houston State University in 1994. I went one more year to get a degree in Secondary Education, and after my 6 months of student teaching I lost all interest in teaching High Schoolers. I was afraid I'd punch some young man's lights out if I took a full time teaching job. Now that I;ve got the BA I have noone to talk with about either subject. I did a minor in English. After my separation from my second wife I moved into an apartment complex for people over 55. I've been here for two years now and just now being able to live by myself. Most of the folks here are women (most of whom are over 75) we have one 99 yr old man who just remarried to a 75 year old woman. My best friend here just had half of his right foot amputated due to diabetes. He is only in his 50's. I have one main female friend I meet in the dining hall on Thursdays and Fridays. She is somewhere in her eighties. Every Friday night the complex has a DJ come in to play records or guys who sing for two hours and people in their 80's to early 90's dance. I can't do the twist anymore because of neuropathy so I just sit and watch everyone else dance. I'm really looking to attending the 50th reunion. I've already been in touch with a guy I haven't seen in over 50 years. Update 06/26/09. |

Our hobby is travel. Lowell and I are professional network marketers, and have been with Mannatech, Inc., since it started in 1994.This has been an amazing career because our company has developed science based patented products that are designed to help people receive the nutrients our bodies need to maintain good health. It has been tremendously rewarding financially as well. Our company is a global company in sixteen countries and we have associates personally in those countries. We have recently expanded our business to the travel industry and it is an eight trillion dollar industry so there is huge opportunity there also. Our business is all about the people; helping them to achieve their dreams and goals. We have been so blessed to work with so many people including our own children. We travel together and work together. There may be a better way to make a living, but we can't think of what it might be. It is good to have the "one minute commute" and work from the Home Office-at home. If anyone wants to have some fun and make some money, give us a call. Update 09/17/09.

Life has truly been a journey. After graduating from high school and Texas Tech, I moved to Ft. Worth and eventually was transferred back to Odessa. After a two year stay, I moved to Dallas. Over the course of my life I think I have moved back and forth from Dallas to Houston at least four or five times. In 1994 I married and in moved to Massachusetts. But only stayed five months because of the intense winter. I had never seen so much snow that had to be shoveled. My husband and I moved back to Dallas. After three years of marriage he passed away and I have remained in Dallas. My health has been terrific. I am still working and am thankful that I love getting up in the morning and being active. Everyday is a blessing. Most of professional career has been in sales and management. Currently I sell office furniture for a company in Dallas. We primarily sell to the government. Most recently I have just returned from Ft. Stewart, GA where I we are in the process of building and installing a 27 million dollar project. Updated 06/16/09.
