I Married in 1957. I have one son, David Hunter age 46. David is divorced, lives in Hurst Texas with his significant other and has no children. He is a remodel carpenter and has a very good job. I divorced in 1966. I married Jerry Spencer who was my first boyfriend in 1956. We married in 2002 and I moved to Pontotoc, Mississippi. His wife of 35 years had died in 1995. I lived in Fort Worth, TX for 40 years before Jerry found me again. He has six children, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. I get to claim them too. We have one Pekinese named Tye Spencer. He is our spoiled rotten baby. We like to hook up our travel trailer and hit the road. We usually take off a month so we have plenty of time for where ever we decide to go. Our Tye loves traveling too. I went to beauty college in Odessa, San Angelo, and Midland. I graduated in 1962 and worked as a hairdresser for 40 years. I owned my shop in Fort Worth which I sold in 1987 and leased my work room until I retired in 2002. I went to C-1 Truck Driving School in 2004 in Fort Worth so that I could drive too. They said that I was the oldest person (and a woman too) that they had taught. Jerry and I have a Peterbilt Semi Truck which we team drove until I became ill. He is solo driving now but I plan to get back on the truck in October. We have a really good time and get to travel through all the states and Canada. It is never boring. Update 02/09/10 | |

My wife, Marion & I moved from Arkansas to Arizona about 3 years ago and I forgot to provide current information. Am retired and have been here for almost 6 years. Spent most of my professional life in various overseas venues working for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service. Between the two of us, we have 5 children and (at last count) 6 grandchildren. We stay busy with church activities, trying to keep our bodies reasonably fit at our fitness center/natatorium and we do as much traveling as we can. I very much appreciate all the work the reunion committee does to plan for these events and will be tickled to see many old friends once again. After graduation from OHS I attended TAMC through my junior year when Uncle Sam and I became friends. Got my commission, served in many overseas locations including 2 years in Viet Nam with the 25 InfDiv.. After 12 years of active duty a divorce from the lady I married in California I wound up in Houston. Have been married to Kathy, from Port Arthur, for almost 24 years now and very happy. I stayed in the Army Reserves while pursuing a career in sales and marketing. I retired from the reserves as a Maj in 1990 but am still in sales. Currently I represent one of the largest manufactures of caskets in the US and cover all of Southeast Texas and Louisiana as far east as Baton Rouge. I look forward to hearing from some of the old gang and am making every effort to rearrange my schedule to attend the big 40 reunion. We bought 27 acres out here about 3 years ago on Mound Creek. What once was corn fields I am now struggling to turn into a horse ranch. Somehow we got involved with raising and showing miniature horses about 4-5 years ago. At present we only have 10 but 4 mares are expecting within the next-2 months so that will be a major increase to our herd. Never knew what hard work really was until I decided that I could do all this by myself. Have put in all the fences, planted hay, built a 46 x 55' two story barn (not quite finished) decks, paddocks, dug a pond by hand with the help of my wife of 27 years, Kathy and the list goes on. Hope to be able to attend a reunion soon but just don't know when. Sure wish I had some of the hair from way back in '59, almost totally bald now. Would enjoy hearing from some of you out there. After attending North Texas and obtaining my Masters in Business Education and teaching at junior colleges I returned to Odessa and was the Director of Student Activities and was teaching at Odessa College. This is when I met and married Wes Spincic in 1975. From that time on I stayed home and raised our children--Reggie and Sheri Pool. We moved to Kingwood, Texas just north of Houston in 1976 where we continued our lives. Reggie is now 34 years of age, graduated from Texas A & M and the University of Houston Law School. He is presently living in Santa Cruz California and has supplied me with one tremendous grandson. Sheri is 30 and living in Beaumont, Texas. She recently received her master's degree from Sam Houston State University in Education and teaches high school computer classes in Beaumont. Sheri has added so much joy and excitement to our lives as she was always very active in school. She participated in the Miss Texas Pageant, and served as a Houston Oilier Cheerleader before marrying Ken Weaver and moving to Beaumont. Wes was trained in engineering at the United States Military Academy and has had extensive experience working in the international oil business with Mobil Oil and Avanti for the past twenty-five years. Wes is the owner and president of Avanti Consulting, Ltd -US. With my children grown and not located in Houston I have gone to work at a mortgage company that Wes owns. I have had a very happy and privileged life. We have had the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. and abroad and have enjoyed owning a boat docked in Florida where we were able to explore the Bahamas and Caribbean Islands. I love living in Houston and invite all my classmates to drop in for a visit if you are ever in this area. Updated 06/26/01.

Howard Y. Butler Deceased (10/13/2012) |
Howard Young Butler, 71, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Round Rock, Texas. Howard was born June 15, 1941, in Odessa, Texas, to Howard and Christine Price Butler. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1959 and received his degree in Government from the University of Texas in 1963. After teaching school in El Paso, Texas, for five years, Howard began his long and successful career with the Veterans Administration in Waco, Texas. He retired as a Rating Board Specialist with the VA in Denver, Colorado.
Howard was a proud member of the Texas ExesAssociation, and the consummate Longhorns fan. His wardrobe included almost every item available from the UT Co-op.
To know Howard was to understand the true meaning of grace. Challenged by life-long muscular dystrophy, he accepted his limitations with good humor and adaptation. Howard learned to balance activity with rest to enjoy life to the fullest. He was an inspiration for everyone, especially those who are also disabled.
Howard is survived by his sister, Linda and husband Don Branscum of Streetman, Texas; brother, Paton of Kyle; nephew, Will Butler; nieces Angie and Aimee Butler and Sarah and Laura Brew; and his loving companion, Reeta Wadzeck, with whom he shared the joys of music and opera.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Scott and White Hospital Round Rock for their genuine care and
concern. Burial will be private with a memorial to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association would be appreciated.
Arrangements by Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512)863-2564. Update: 01/19/2013 |
